You’ll see above I have a batch of our Ember Mezuzot on the workbench. These have their first couple coats of oil and will receive a few more layers of a top coat varnish. The comparison photos below show a digital version (right) of the Ember mezuzah and a wooden piece in final form (left).

I continue to refine small aspects of this shape and concentrate most on the two points (marked yellow above) where the curved sides come around to the front of the piece. Other components like the rear cavity for the klaf, or the features designed for affixing the mezuzah to the doorway, have been dialed in. I have made hundreds of these mezuzot over the past few years and the journey has had more twists and turns than I expected.
