Wood Engravings
Artist’s Process
To engrave into wood, I use a ‘V’ gouge to carve out the thick lines. Then, I use my pyrography pen (wood burning tool) to burn the insides of those thick lines and create the thin lines with a red hot tip of my sharpest pen.
My method organically formed over the years writing personal inscriptions on wooden challah boards. I immensely enjoy melding my favorite artistries - woodworking, illustration, and calligraphy.
